Privacy Policy

Camdex is owned and operated by P&T Labs LLC ("we," "our," or "us"). Camdex ("the app") is a camera gear inventory app that helps photographers track, value, and insure their equipment. Your privacy matters to us, and this policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide the app's core functionality:

• Account information — If you create an account, we store your email address and a securely hashed password via Firebase Authentication. You may also use the app anonymously without providing any personal information.
• Inventory data — The gear items, groups, prices, serial numbers, notes, and images you add to your inventory are stored in Google Cloud Firestore and Firebase Storage, linked to your account.
• Market lookups — When you request a market valuation, we send your item's brand, model, and category to a server-side search service. Search results are cached in a shared, anonymized cache to reduce API usage. No personal data is included in these lookups.
• AI-powered image analysis — When you use the AI Scan or Flea Market features, your photo is sent to Google's Gemini AI (via Vertex AI) on our server for gear identification and receipt reading. Images are processed in real time and are not stored by the AI service after analysis. No personal data beyond the image content is sent to the AI model.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To sync your inventory across devices and sessions.
• To generate insurance reports and CSV exports at your request.
• To provide market valuations by querying public eBay listing data.
• To identify camera gear and extract receipt details from photos you submit for AI analysis.
• To authenticate your account and protect your data.

3. Third-Party Services

Camdex relies on the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

• Firebase (Google) — Authentication, database, file storage, and cloud functions. Firebase Privacy Policy
• SerpApi — Server-side eBay search queries for market valuations. No user-identifiable data is sent. SerpApi Legal
• eBay Partner Network — Outbound links to eBay include affiliate tracking parameters. No personal data is shared with eBay through these links.
• Google Vertex AI (Gemini) — Server-side AI image analysis for gear identification and receipt reading. Only the submitted photo is sent; no personal data or account information is included. Images are not retained by the AI service after processing. Vertex AI Data Governance

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Your inventory data is private to your account. The only data that leaves the app is described in Section 3 above.

Public sharing (optional, your choice). Camdex lets you generate a public link to a read-only web page showing items you select from your collection. When you create such a link, the chosen items — including their photos, specs, and (only if you turn on the corresponding option) purchase prices or notes — become viewable by anyone who has the link, without signing in. Serial numbers are never included. You control what is shared and can revoke a link at any time from within the app, which immediately removes the page. Do not share anything you wish to keep private.

5. Data Storage & Security

All data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure (Firebase) with encryption at rest and in transit. Authentication is handled by Firebase Auth with industry-standard security practices. We do not store passwords in plaintext.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete individual items, images, or your entire inventory at any time from within the app. You can also permanently delete your account directly from the Profile screen using the "Delete Account" button — this immediately removes your authentication credentials, all inventory data, and stored images. 7. Children's Privacy

Camdex is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
